Second Harvest Predicts Large Crowd at Food Giveaway as Families Affected by COVID


VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) – Second Harvest of South Georgia is hosting a drive-through food distribution event on Saturday in Valdosta.

And they expect a large crowd.

People in need are encouraged to go out and get food assistance.

It is going to be distributed in a COVID safe manner.

The pantries will include foods such as pasta and soups.

There will be chicken, milk, bread, dried fruits and vegetables.

No ID will be required for the pantry.

“As our numbers grow rapidly and we see schools shutting down face-to-face education, at least in one form or another, we know the numbers are going up because families will no longer be able to count on it. free and cut back on school lunch if they need it because people won’t be able to go to work and because we might eventually start seeing supply chain issues again, ”said Eliza McCall, Principal marketing for Second Harvest of South Ga.

Children’s boxes will also be available, a waiver must be signed on site and proof of eligibility must be presented.

Distribution begins at 7 a.m. at Valdosta High School on Inner Perimeter Road.

Two households per vehicle max.

Food is available while supplies last.

You are asked not to arrive before 4.30 a.m.
