Bombay: Opposition slams government Shinde Fadnavis over alleged sale of food kit containing one kilogram of rawa, edible oil, yellow lentils and sugar worth Rs 100 on black market and delays in its distribution through ration shops across Maharashtra during the ongoing Diwali festival.

Opposition leader Ajit Pawar criticized the state government saying that he learned that in some places the food kit is sold at Rs 200 or Rs 300 while in some places some items were missing from the package.

Good scheme, bad implementation: Opposition

“This is wrong. The program is good but it was implemented without proper planning. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Civilian Food and Supply Minister Ravindra Chavan say the food kits have been provided to ration shops but they have yet to arrive, delaying its distribution to eligible people,” said Ajit Pawar.

On the other hand, Yuva Sena leader and former minister Aaditya Thackeray blasted the Shinde Fadnavis government saying it was busy making several announcements but lacking in their implementation.

It has been revealed that the Rs 100 food kit is priced at Rs 300 in Shinde’s home district of Thane. The incident happened in a remote area of Shahapur taluka of Thane district. A complaint has been filed with the Shahapur Tehsildar against the trader who cheated the poor tribals.

Taking serious note of the criticisms from the opposition and complaints from eligible people regarding the shortcomings in the timely distribution of the food kit, the Chief Minister ordered that the food kit be distributed offline immediately in view of the problem encountered after the server shutdown.
