Mysore: Mysuru, known for its eponymous products ranging from sweet delicacies to clothing, arts and crafts to others, now offers authentic North Karnataka sweet delicacies on a platter.
Sri Matha Sweets on D Subbaiah Road near the Freedom Fighters Memorial Park in the city offers varieties of traditional North Karnataka food items. Geographical indicator (GI) and popular food items are also in the list, which is sure to trigger hunger pangs.
It is the adventure of Sridevi Kundangar, originally from Belagavi, who has made Mysuru her new home, since she moved here six or seven years ago. What started on a small scale in his home, catering to customers’ needs for craftsmanship, has now grown into a small business by recently opening a boutique. It is for the sole purpose of reaching more people, who have a taste for new food products.
Sridevi Kundanagar, who holds a graduate degree in computer application, has also trained many students in Mysuru. Now she has become an entrepreneur, introducing the lip smacking food products of North Karnataka like Belagavi Kunda, Gokak Karadantu, Dharwad Babu Singh Thakur Pedha and Savanur Khara Mixture and Ladaki Laddu, Chutney Powder and Kadak Rotti and the list goes on .

We had planned to introduce branded and IG food products from North Karnataka to Mysureans, who are known for trying new things. These products are healthy and nutritious as they are made from dried fruits, organic jaggery and pure ghee. It is beneficial for helping the growth of children, breastfeeding women and also for diabetics as it contains less sugar and is completely free of chemical free items,” Sridevi Kundanagar said.
