JS Global Reports Interim Financial Results for the Six Months Ended June 30, 2022

HONG KONG, August 29, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — JS Global Lifestyle Company Limited (Stock Code: 1691.HK) (“JS Global” or the “Company”), a global leader in the production of small home appliances that operates three major brands: Shark, Ninja and Joyoung, today announced its interim financial results for the six months ended June 30, 2022.

“I am pleased to report that we have maintained our level of revenue while navigating difficult macroeconomic conditions and after experiencing phenomenal growth in 2021 and 2020,” said Wang Xuning, Chairman and CEO of JS Global. “Despite the global headwinds, we were able to increase our market share in all major categories in which SharkNinja operates in the United States. The successful launch of new categories in the second half of 2021 also contributed significantly to our revenue during of the first half of 2022. 2022 interim financial results and comments

  • The turnover was US$2,232.2 million for the six months ended June 30, 2022, stable compared to the same period of the previous year. At constant exchange rates, sales increased by 0.8%.
    – SharkNinja income was US$1,593.2 million for the six months ended June 30, 2022, stable compared to the same period of the previous year. At constant exchange rates, sales increased by 1.2%.
    – Joyoung’s income was US$639.0 million for the six months ended June 30, 2022, a slight decrease of 0.6% compared to the same period of the previous year. At constant exchange rates, sales decreased by 0.3%.
  • The profit was $180.9 million for the six months ended June 30, 2022a decrease of $36.7 millionie 16.9% compared to the same period of the previous year.
  • EBITDA was US$302.2 million for the six months ended June 30, 2022a decrease of US$34.0 millionie 10.1% compared to the same period of the previous year.
  • Adjusted EBITDA was US$318.4 million for the six months ended June 30, 2022a decrease of $32.1 millioni.e. 9.2% compared to the same period of the previous year.
  • Adjusted net income attributed to owners of the parent company was $188.9 million for the six months ended June 30, 2022a decrease of $26.1 millionie 12.1% compared to the same period of the previous year.
  • Basic EPS attributable to common shareholders at the parent company was $0.048 for the six months ended June 30, 2022a decrease of $0.009i.e. 15.9 compared to the same period of the previous year.
  • Diluted EPS attributable to common shareholders of the parent company was $0.048 for the six months ended June 30, 2022a decrease of $0.009ie 15.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Recent Business Highlights

  • JS Global revenue increased 80.6% compared to the first half of 2019, driven by the continued success and expansion of the Shark and Ninja brands, as well as gross margin growth of 86, 6% compared to the first half of 2019.
  • The Shark brand remains the #1 vacuum cleaner brand in the United States, while the Ninja brand continues to be the #1 small kitchen appliance brand in the United States. Our market share in cleaning devices increased from 30.8% to 34.4%[1]cooking appliances from 25.2% to 25.4%[2]and food preparation appliances from 32.5% to 35.2%[3] in the USA.

Balance sheet and cash flow highlights

  • Of the June 30, 2022cash and cash equivalents have been US$550.9 millionoutstanding debt (total borrowings) was US$975.2 millionand the debt ratio (calculated as total debt (including interest-bearing bank loans and lease debt) divided by total equity) was 54.5%.
  • Capital expenditures were $69.4 million for the six months ended June 30, 2022 compared to US$53.9 million at the same period of the previous year.
  • JS Global had 3,408,381,000 fully diluted shares outstanding at June 30, 2022.
