Greensboro police are investigating a series of food truck thefts

GREENSBORO, NC (WGHP) – The Big Gay Food Truck in Greensboro is the latest food truck to be targeted and held at gunpoint in Greensboro.

Greensboro police say the attempted robbery took place Friday night on Spring Garden Street.

Police said the man is approximately 6ft 1in tall and was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and a black mask.

Co-owner Austin Allen was working inside the food truck when the man approached. He said the person pretended to be a customer and asked about the food.

When the suspect caught Allen’s attention, he pushed him aside, pulled out a gun and pointed it at him.

“He was one of those that I’m going to get shot or not,” Allen said.

Allen said once the man realized there was no money to take, he ran down Spring Garden Street.

“My adrenaline spiked…and my thought process was ‘what can I do to get him out of here as quickly as possible? “, said Allen.

This robbery attempt makes the fourth targeted food truck a series of robberies in the city of Greensboro.

Greensboro police say the attempted robbery of the Big Gay Food Truck is being investigated and they don’t know if it’s related to the past three food truck robberies.

On March 24, Taqueria el Torito on Randleman Road was robbed, followed by Taqueria el Farito on East Bessemer Avene and 123 Tacos on West Gate City Boulevard on March 25.
