From plant-based probiotics to chocolate to cocoa fruit, here’s a quick look at some of the new food products hitting the shelves.
1. Cold infused vegan gelato
Gelatissimo cold brew coffee ice cream is made by soaking coffee beans in water for up to 24 hours to create a coffee concentrate. The cold brew produces a smooth coffee that contains less acidity than hot brewed coffee. This is believed to provide a smoother flavor without a bitter aftertaste. Vegan ice cream uses oat milk specially designed to pair with coffee.
2. Trim range
Monday Distillery dehydrates artisan fruits and plants at a low temperature to retain additional color, flavor, aroma and texture. Everything is then wrapped and sealed to keep it fresh and bright. The Garnish by Monday range includes dried cucumbers, lemon, lime, strawberries, pineapples and orange twists which can be used for tapas, cocktails or non-alcoholic drinks from the distillery.
3. Sparkling probiotic drink
PERKii Unfermented 100% Plant-Based Sparkling Probiotic Drink is bottled with a billion plant-based probiotics, blended with natural flavors and contains only 45 calories per serving. First developed at the University of Queensland, PERKii’s targeted release probiotics are believed to be microbranking to resist stomach acid up to 10,000 times stronger than probiotics without microbracking. The range is available in three flavors: watermelon, cucumber with mint and ginger.
4. Whole fruit chocolate
Cacao Barry WholeFruit Evocao couverture chocolate has a fruity taste. With 40% less sugar than most dark chocolates, it is made from 100% pure cocoa, a fruit of which 70% is normally thrown away as waste. Other flavors are expected to be released in 2022.
5. Bite crackers
RITZ Baked Cracker Bites are bite-size versions of the company’s cookie. The new range is available in three flavors: classic, cheddar and sour cream and onion.
