Appointment of the new CEO of the Regional Investment Company

A new CEO has been appointed to lead the Regional Investment Corporation (RIC), the Australian government-backed specialist finance provider for farmers and small agricultural businesses.

Experienced finance CEO John Howard has been selected by the RIC Board for an initial term of 3 years. It follows his successful career in financial management and the agricultural supply chain, from primary production (family and corporate farming), to commodity marketing, trading, manufacturing and food marketing.

Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Minister Murray Watt said Mr Howard had been selected by the RIC board following a comprehensive selection process and would take office. November 21.

“Mr. Howard is an experienced CEO who has worked extensively in the agriculture industry and throughout the supply chain. He also has experience in business strategy and transformation and financial investment,” said Minister Watt.

“The RIC provides concessional loans to farmers and small agricultural businesses to support their long-term strength, resilience and profitability. It is therefore important to have a CEO who understands this experience.

“I congratulate Mr. Howard on his appointment as CEO of RIC and look forward to working with him to support our farmers and regional communities.”

Finance Minister Katy Gallagher said the CEO of RIC has played a significant role in the success of RIC and the results it delivers to its clients.

“Mr. Howard’s experience and knowledge across the industry will be an asset to the continued effective and efficient operation of the RIC,” said Minister Gallagher.

“I congratulate him and look forward to working with him.”

The two Ministers also thanked Mr. Paul Dowler for his leadership as interim CEO of the RIC from January 2022. Mr. Dowler will return to his role as Executive Director of General Services of the RIC.
